Service reset/distance
Can somebody tell me where in the GAP Menu to find the Distance to next service data please.
Also, where in the menus to reset the service notification.
I can't find it anywhere and am hoping it could shed some light on my lack of notification.
ThanksHeaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

It's held in the instrument pack and as yours will have a DPF it's important that this is updated every time you change the oil to aid the regenerative process!! yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Sorry, meant to respond to this on your other thread. I believe the distance to next service is under Live values, PCM Engine 3.0. If that doesn’t find it for you, come back and I’ll plug the IID in tomorrow and check.Gary

I finally managed to get 10 mins to plug the GAPII into the D4.
I had a search but couldn't find 'Distance' to service anywhere, but did find the service reset in the Instrument cluster section of the service menu.
In fact it was the only option in the Instrument cluster section, and when selected a new window popped up with two options, Proceed with routine, Yes, or No.
I faffed around a bit trying harder to find a distance somewhere, but in the end hit Yes thinking the routine might include some other options.
It didn't and the reset routine completed.
I changed the oil less that 2K miles ago, which is close enough I think from a regen point of view.
Considering of course I have changed the oil 8 times without resetting the service message.
It doesn't explain however why I'm not getting the service reminder message.
I even had somebody at work with D4 experiance start the car to see if he saw it, and he didn't.
However, he said he doesn't remember see the message I get every time saying the TPMS is set to normal, and suggested perhaps the Service message is being overwritten or hidden by that.
We also tried turning the ignition on without a foot on the brake so the car went through the start up routine without starting the engine, then starting the engine from that point.
Still no message.
We did the above before I reset the distance of course.
I've used the GAP extensively when servicing my D3 and D4, for all sorts of maintenance stuff, Height Calibration, EPB, Steering wheel position, etc, but I've always avoided opening the Car Configuration option, being scared stiff of doing something daft.
Can I open it and look at settings without doing any damage?
I understand to change anything I'd need to download the file, change the settings, and upload a new file, which is I suppose what scares me.
I'm wondering if there is a way to turn off the message about the TPMS every time I turn the ignition on. And if the service distance warning has been disabled.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I will plug the IID tool in tomorrow and note the exact menu options I use to find the distance to next service. I've used it many times.

Attached a screenshot I took which includes this item.Gary

Apologies, for later than planned response. I plugged in the IID today and noted the options to select to find ' Distance to next service'.
After plugging in the tool, turning on the ignition and connecting to the tool, select the following headings in order:
Live values ( note this is the sixth option on the initial list underneath the Service/Test option)
Select Live values
Complete List
PCM - Engine Diesel 3.0L
At this point the heading will be
' select Live values 0/8' and the Live values will be in alphabetic order.
Scroll down to :
Distance to next service
By my count this is the 29th item on the list in all the values beginning with the letter 'D' and immediately underneath ' Distance since diagnostic Trouble codes cleared'
Touch on the Distance to next service value and it will come up with miles to next service.
I have screenshots of step by step if required.
Good luck. Please let us know how you get on and what you find. Happy to provide more info if required.Gary

Many thanks for taking the time to do that, it really has helped.
My Menus are different to yours, perhaps I need to plug my Gap in and download any updates.
But it looks like where I'd got stuck before was at the point of choosing the engine.
Although mine is different, it's worded as "Engine SDV6".
Anyway, distance to service is currently showing 15,789 miles, which makes sense because I reset it only 2 days ago.
Obviously I'll carry on changing the Oil every 5-6K miles, but will reset the service each time now.
I do need to start another thread though, as digging through the latest menus I've found have given me a bit more to think about.
Thanks again.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Glad it helped. Always want to help if I can , even with my very limited knowledge, as have had so much help and information from the forum myself.
Sounds like you’re out of the frying pan and into the fire…… Good luck.Gary
