Interesting. I didn't know you could turn off DRL's. Learn something new each day.
As a shooting vehicle, I think the D4 has a lot going for it. Off road, it can't be beaten by many and I believe mine is better on road tyres than my previous D2 on AT's. I spend an inordinate amount of time feeding up pheasant rides and generally this job is done with a quad bike. However, assuming the weather hasn't been too unkind to the upland fields, the D4 can deputise. Obviously it'll be less kind to the fields though.
I think as time passes and D4's become less expensive, they will naturally fall into this farm/shooting utility vehicle category. Something that many thought would not happen because of their more up-market stance compared to earlier models. Wonder if we'll say the same about D5's.

I've got the Land Rover rubber boot mat with the lip on it. That effectively takes care of the floor and surrounds up to 3-4 inches. It's very good, gives a good surface for dogs and luggage so they don't slide around a lot. The sides are wipe-clean mostly, but that leaves the backs of the middle row of seats and the tailgate to worry about. You can get mats for the tailgate, handy if you have a dog or two jumping in or out. Hard to find something for the rear of the seats, especially if you are putting them up and down a lot. I've just left them and resigned myself to some occasional serious cleaning.

After doing loads of searches, I found some discussions about them, the two recommended are ukcustomcovers and hatchback. I,ve now ordered a ukcustomcovers one to try.

Thanks, but that's not enough (partly because it does not dim ALL the light).

The hatch bag co, dont bother with cheaper alternatives! they dont fit as well, arnt waterproof and fall apart after a few washes. My hatch bag cover gets jet washed once a month and it has served me very well!

Buy a hatchbag liner, you can get one which has a divided back to cover each individual rear seat, but which is velcro'd together. An additional section is also available to protect the top section of the rear seats.

Hi all, just curious if any of you have made a rack to carry braces of pheasants? not ideal to lay them down in the boot but struggling to see where i can put a frame or bar from one side to the other?
It has 4 hooks on the trailing edge & one hang a brace from each and have more on the rack, which is in effect ventilated.
If you are interested I have one, unused for £140 plus carriage.

that actually looks brilliant. Does it fit anywhere in the boot and doesn't need the dog cage to fit?
It doesn't need the dog cage to fit, and will fit in the middle or the rear of the boot.
My one has a cut out on the left hand rear to allow access to the 12V socket.
If Interested I'll upload or email you a photograph.
