Shopping List - Rear Suspension Refurb - Advice Please

I was going to do my rear upper and lower suspension arms (due to wear). I am also going down the line of RRS arms for the stiffer bushes.

Which other parts is it worth doing at the same time - to save major labour costs, suspension realignment etc. I presume those which affect steering geometry and will save time/labour/cost in the future?

Would welcome any parts and part numbers from those who have been before me!

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Would need to dig back in invoices to check what all was changed - but I got my local independent to attack the suspension on my 55 plate Disco3 at about 70k miles - the discussion at the time was rather than just do a few bushes, just go through it and replace everything sensible .. it was a bit on the expensive side, and needed the suspension locking out and taking to the local 4 wheel alignment place to get everything pointing in the right direction, but it made a huge difference and 50k miles later it's still driving nicely Thumbs Up

It would make sense to do the upper and lower knuckle bushes while you're in there. What are the handbrake shoes and internals like? Are the backplates rusty? If you're replacing them you will need to do the wheel bearings, but you'll need access to a 30ton press and a dog of a puller if the drive shaft is seized to the hub!! Beyond that, brake lines & hoses, ARB bushes and drop links. So if you are going to keep her as I assume you are, you might as well throw the hammer at it as its getting on for 15 yrs now.

Do it once and be done with it, discs and calipers are an easy job for another day if you want to tighten the budget. Do not however go for cheap parts, stick to quality OEM like Meyle, Timkin, Febi, etc. Once complete get 4 wheel alignment done by a specialist who knows what they are at! Thumbs Up
