Shoul I worry?

Checking the oil level today and see this.
Should I be worried or just top it up? Been in for a recent service and no oil leaks underneath.
Any help/advice appreciated. TIA

did you check it before starting the engine? as if the engine has been run then you need to wait 10 mins to be able to check.

Failing that the sensor may have gone wrong, I'd maybe look at the garage come collect it if your worried or book it in asap and dont use til you can verify its got oil

It looks like you haven't left it long enough since the engine has been started. Leave it a bit longer and try again. It probably needs at least 10 mins since the engine was run. OR try when its cold and hasn't been started.

Ok thanks, I’d believed the engine had to be warm to check the oil level.
Seems not
Thank you

A while back Disco Mikey made the point that most snapped cranks he had seen also had a low oil level, which seems a reasonable thing. If it’s not near a service I would be looking at topping that up closer to max

I'd be worried, said it's had a recent service, should be at the max. Try again when cold, can't beat a dipstick.

Yes... "not available" on the right of the gauge means you are asking too soon. It is supposed to allow all the oil to drain back down to the sump where it is measured.

The level at half is too low. Just not worth the risk with this engine. IIRC each notch on the gauge is circa 125ml. It only holds 5.7 lt in total.... Im OCD about the oil in this car.... I changed mine yesterday after 4500 miles since service and it made a big difference.

I wouldn't be leaving the level there for sure.
A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

It should be at the max, not 50%, if it’s had a recent service. If it was filled to the max and there’s been nothing obvious under the car, I’d be wanting to know where that’s gone. Top up to the max, monitor the level closely and further investigation maybe required.

Don't panic too much:

I asked similar when I had my D4. The last post on the thread is useful.
