I know the engine in the latest D4 SDV6 is the Jaguar engine coupled with the Jaguar 8 spd gearbox. But what make of engine is in the 2010MY TDV6 and whose 6spd gearbox.
I also have gleaned thet new SDV6 couple with the 8spd auto box has better MPG and lower emissions. But are there any other downsides to the TDV6 engine 6 spd combo?
Apologies to the MOD's I have put this in the wrong section - cam it be moved please.

Gearboxes have been made by ZF Friedrichshafen AG, otherwise ZF for some years; they also make many other transmissions:-

Hi Potshot welcome aboard. I have just read the link 're who makes/developed the TDV 6 engine that is in the D3.
Well if I'm not mistaken that bit of literature stating that the engine is jaguar under Ford , it is incorrect!
I have been told by good authority and also have read that the TDV 6 is actually a Peugeot developed engine?
Of course I do stand to be corrected.
Please don't feel that you might have a cheap old French engine in your car, you ain't. Don't forget that Peugeot were pioneers in diesel engine development, they have been in the game longer than most engine makers.
Remember the old 504 diesel? it was bomb proof. The car just rotted away from the engine. D3 bonatti grey

Nope, it's an expensive French engine, just built in Dagenham.

Guy, click though the link on Wikipedia to the page about the engines:
Quote Wikipedia...
The Lion engine family was developed and manufactured at Ford's Dagenham Diesel Centre for use in PSA Peugeot Citroën vehicles (as DT17 as part of joint venture begun in 1999), Jaguar Cars (as the AJD-V6), and Land Rover vehicles. The engines share the same bore/stroke ratio, with the V6 displacing 2.7L and the V8 displacing 3.6L. The V6 was launched in 2004 and as of 2011 also serves in Ford Australia's Territory SUV; the V8 in 2006. The V6 engine meets the Euro IV emissions standards. A 3.0L was added in 2009 and is based on the 2.7L. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

Not quite ...although there was a design collaboration between Ford & PSA for use in some JLR, Peugeot & Citroen models ... the engine was developed and built by Ford at the Dagenham Diesel Centre 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
