Hi All.
Why would my Disco 3 sink when the drivers door is opened ?
When it’s been sitting for a half hour or so, sometimes it sinks to the floor when I open the drivers door.
Cheers

Just a guess, but the air suspension is supposed to pause when doors are opened.
If it’s sinking when you open the door, then perhaps you have a leak?
Might be worth having a listen to the compressor to see if it is running all the time with the engine on or if the instrunment panel reports slow rising when moving up in height to off road
If it is, you might want to be careful as if the compressor is running all the time I think you risk it burning out.
Check the technical forums for aircsuspenssion issues to learn more

Compressor runs fine and stops when it needs to. I have had a warning to stop and drive at 30mph a few times recently. It sinks to the bump stops with red light on and the 30mph warning. Switch it off, turn it on and it’s ok again. It might do this a few times a day or once a week. Occasionally I get a warning when I fire it up telling me I have a suspension fault but that goes away after a minute or two.
It’s just a pest of thing!

Never happened without codes
Then someone with relevant knowledge may offer advice that helps in your case.
I'm out as I have only a list of codes but don't know what to do with them...

mine was sinking when i locked it or unlocked it. Turned out to be a height sensor had snapped in half
Plug it in and look at the input/output voltages of each sensor and the height it thinks its at. Other than that, try pulling the fuse to the suspension and see if it still sinks. If it does its probably not electrical... 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

But doors open is an inhibit for the suspension moving.
Looking at the wiring diagrams and reading Lr training guide seems the door open sensing comes from both CANbus and a hard wired connection.
If it only happens when the door is open after it’s been sitting a while, could it be when car is awake and CANbus is active, door sensing is ok.
Once car goes to sleep then the hardwired connection is used. I think anyway.
Take a look here to read the training stuff. From the link, look in ‘curriculum training’ and then ‘air suspension’ . You need to scroll thru each workbook to find the section for the LR3. I think work books 3 and 4 will be most useful.

Thanks for the replies. The codes I get relate to height sensor mechanisms. Codes as follows
C1A75-1C Intermittent. Rear height sensor mechinism.
C1A06-1C Intermittent. Rear right height sensor.
U0073-88 Intermittent. Control module communication bus off.
I’m going to order and fit height sensor for rear right.
What do you think the U0073-88 code means? Could that just be a communication issue from the height sensor issue?
Cheers

If mine was sinking I could open a door and it would just carry on.
It dropped quickly too which ruled out a small leak somewhere. 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

Yeah, drops really quickly! Ive been all over the sustem with the teusty soapy water but there doesnt appear to be any leaks. The only faults seem to relate to a height sensor. Ordered one today so will get that fitted on Monday and update thread.
In the meantime, if anyone can shed any light on why it is sinking when i open the drivers door, that would be great.
Cheers

Does it sink when you open any other door or is it only the drivers door that triggers it? 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

It’s always been the drivers door it’s happened on. It sinks that quick that no time to check to see if it happens on other doors.
It’s a strange on for sure!

Funny you should suggest that. I found the block to be in a hell of a state a while back and set about striping it down and fitting a block off another car. Took ages to cut wires back and solder in a new plug. The suspension was great for a couple of months after that with no issues at all. I’ve been back and had a look at the wiring but can’t see anything obvious. All the wiring under the car is in a bit of a state to be honest.
