Skid Plates for the rear? |
|
Wondering if anyone has come up with a large plate (aluminum) that would cover the rear spare tire somehow along with the exhaust? Seems like something that would allow you to slide over things would work?

I've been considering the same thing. My exhaust has gotten dinged a bit recently. It's silly how exposed it is, hanging below the frame like that.
I will probably have the exhaust rerouted as opposed to skids for it. That is the one area of the car that really needs to breathe and keep cool. I will probably mount my spare tire to a roof rack or perhaps the new rear bumper mounted rack.

I've looked everywhere but can't find any protection for the exhaust. Hasn't anyone had damage to their exhaust?
Font skid plates are available, but I can't find any rear skid plates, and I also can't find any real rock sliders for a D3...

I'm working on rock sliders, should have something to report in a couple of weeks. Nothing on rear protection. It's gotta breathe, so putting a lid on it is not a great idea. A 1.5" body lift in the rear would allow room to reroute over the rear diff, getting rid of the low hanging exhaust problem. My pipes look pretty mangled due to their poor location and my lack of ground clearance.
