Small screen big screen nonsense.
Greetings D4 gurus. I've not posted in this section before but as I'm looking at a D4 on Sunday, I thought it best to post this.
The D4 I'm looking at has a smaller in car screen. It looks not unlike the Garmin install in my D3.
What I want to know is, what are the limitations with the smaller screen and what are the advantages of the larger screen? Is it possible to retrofit the larger screen or are the benefits not worth bothering?
Why the 2 different sizes even??
Sorry if this has all been asked before but as I've been a D3 owner, this part of the forum never really applied to me so, I never really looked in here, believing you were all superior gods to a mere humble D3 driver. Mods:

Small screen (GS?) probably only has radio display, as Bodsy said large screen has such more, small screen won't have nav for instance.Displaced Yorkshireman.

I think the small screen is just phone and radio and was in the GS, whereas sat nav needs the larger screen the XS and HSE have.Andy

Cheers DD + Fitzy.
What's involved regarding doing an upgrade to the larger type screen, is it as simple buying the screen and installing it?
Also, is the D4 sat nav any good? Although I hear it's a big improvement on the D3 sat nav an AA road map from 1972 is a big improvement on the D3 install. Mods:

Can't help with retro fitting the larger screen but. there seems to have been several updates to the infotainment system dependent on model year my HSE 13MY has Bluetooth music streaming where I don't think earlier models had.
I don't have a problem with the nav, always got me there and back without problem.Displaced Yorkshireman.

My MY12 GS allows Bluetooth connection with an iPhone and presumably other phones. Small screen is just phone and radio/ music. As I use the M25 a lot Live traffic updates are essential so i use a tom Tom live stuck on the screen. Don't know if the large screen sat-nav has live traffic, but I wouldn't use it if it didn't.D4 GS 12MY
Has anyone tried putting a GS head unit in a pre MY12 GS? A2DP streaming would be a useful upgrade.
LR can keep their useless satnav and gimmicky terrain response graphics!

About average as inbuilt satnavs go, not nearly as good as a Tomtom or Garmin.
