2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XS Auto Zermatt Silver

I had no smoke at startup and have had the turbo drain pipe fitted by a dealer at my expense. haven't noticed any smoke subsequently in a week. The issue comes from the big turbo which I believe operates from 2500rpm so not sure you would expect smoke at start up from this problem.

Thanks for the replies gents.

I've just dropped it off at the dealers again and they said they'd look at the TSB again. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it.

So they replaced the drain pipe which seems to have resolved the issue. I'm out for a long run tomorrow so I should have a definitive answer then. Fingers crossed, they've sorted it.

I still don't understand why this should suddenly be a problem though.

Did approximately 300 miles today and not a bit of smoke. Fingers crossed and all that but it looks like it's been sorted! 8)

Mine had the mod some time ago.
I never had smoke on startup, just when I floored it and even then it wasn't every time.
My experience has been that the mod has improved things significantly.
I occasionally get a bit of smoke when flooring it but nothing like before and no where near as often.

Sorry to revive this old(ish) thread, but I'm getting increasingly large puffs of smoke when the secondary turbo kicks in (especially after long motorway trips when the 2nd turbo hasn't been used for a while) and would like to find a cure. I'm assuming the mod we're referring to here is LTB00487v3 - does anyone have a copy of that I could take a look at please? I'm out of warranty, so roughly what would the cost be to complete the mod at a main dealer? Previously:

Hi - I had TSB LTB00487v3 done (I believe) and 10k on it's still fine. I was lucky to have it done under warranty so I'm afraid I can't help on the price of the work.

I can't be certain since I've sold the car and the receipts went at the same time but I think it was around the Â£200 mark. It definitely sorted the issue out though. Bri
