Sounds like Air Leak under Load

Good morning All.

While driving with the window down i can hear what can only be described as a burst airline which is audible in the cab with the window closed.
When stopped and you rev it in Neutral there is nothing untoward sound wise.

Ive had a look in the archives on here but not seen anything to resolve the issue.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Perhaps not to be 100% certain.

In my case I had fault codes indicating low boost pressure and that the CSOV was not operating right, together with red warning and reduced performance. I checked the CSOV and it seemed ok. But there was a blowing noise and a smell of exhaust. So I took off the engine protection cover and had my brother stall the engine a little against the brakes to provoke turbo activity and then I could clearly see exhaust fumes rising from behind the rear right of the engine. I removed the underbody protection and with a torch from underneath I could clearly see a breach of the crossover pipe and its wrapping on the right hand side flexi part of the crossover pipe.

So I was lucky ( Rolling Eyes ) to be able to see it and now I am waiting for a call back from an indy to see what he wants for doing the repair. I will have him do the belt changes and let him take the body off while he's at it. Sometimes there just is no easy way around.
