Space Saver Spare Wheel.

Hi All,

I don't much like the idea of having to use the space saver. Is it simply a straight forward swap with a full size wheel and does the full wheel fit easily in the same place? If it does then how difficult is it to raise and lower it into its restong place? Because of my vertigo I cannot work lying on the ground.

Welcome, Irish Rover... Thumbs Up

Full size wheel should be no problem in that space, I keep an 18" AT in that space...And you don't have to get on your back to get it out.

It just takes forever to manually lower the winch cable holding it in place!

If you are going to for a full-size spare, there is a guy on here (RLD) who does spare wheel protectors to keep the scrotes from steeling them.

Straight swap as long as it is one of the standard D3 wheels & tyres. They are not really space savers, more like cost savers!

No real difference between a full size wheel and a cost saver, don't wind the winch up without a wheel on it or you'll need a new winch. I usually lie under the car to remove the end of the winch, or put it back on, U might need to practice another way. Or call the RAC or LRA out!! Thumbs Up

Thanks for the quick responses James and DSL. I can see that I'm going to have to get some practise in before I take off to the wilds of Europe with my caravan!
