What spares to take on holiday ?
Off on Holiday in a few weeks. Bristol to Murcia (Spain) via Pyrenees and back. I'll do about 4000 miles over the 3 weeks and trying to work out what spares to take.!!
D3 will be nearly 4 years old and have done about 120,000 miles by the time we get back (just in time for a 120k service)
I am thinking of taking some spares for the most likely things that could go wrong - but what ??
Ive had the following replaced over the last year or so :
Front Wheel Bearings
rear diff seals
transfer box prop seals
Brake vaccum servo
Just about to get the following done :
Rear suspension bushes
Front diff seals.
So what does that leave :
EGRs
Injectors ...
.........
Any ideas. what is likely to need changing next ?
The last thing i need is to have something pack up that I can forecast !!
Anyone with a high Mileage car that can suggest spares please
Many ThanksDuncan

Dunc
I went to Morocco last year with mine. Only 18months old. The only spares I took was oil and lubes and a set of filters. And the main belt. But in my ignorance I didn't take the pulley which is usually the problem.
In my head I had things covered, as in anything more than that was a bit beyond me so I was happy. Ignorance is bliss. This time I'll take a few more bits.
Will Nick not do you a spares pack on a sale or return. Brake pads, filters, belt plus anything else you might need.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Alternator as they are hard to get hold of apparently, so if you get stuck you may struggle to get one. There have been a few failures recently for some reason, even my dealer mentioned it was hard and they had customers cars stuck waiting.

I have some EGR blanks if you want to borrow them in case your valves fail. I keep them as a back up in case mine go, but haven'f fitted them.
With your BBS box you could blank them and hopefully reset the fault to stop the limp home mode and carry on.

I know it might cost but why not get someone to do a health check on the D3. Go through it and look for stuff. Might save a lot of heartache in the long run.
As for alt, if they are that hard to come by why take 1 from the system that is already short just on the offchance. If I knew Nick let Dunc have an alt just incase his broke, and I then had to wait weeks for 1 to come through if mine broke I wouldn't be a happy teddy. What are the chances of 1 giving up. Is it linked to cars that do a lot of offroading? Or cars that have a lot of aux power needs ie fridges/winches etc. There must be a pattern there somewhere.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

TFC did a HC a couple of months or sa ago - identifed :
rear suspension Bushes (which are now failing)
and EGR niggle and one injector which was "odd"
Everything else seemed OK - but you never know !!
nothing to worry about however.....
I think my alternator failed cos the bearings where worn - ie too much wading through liquid sand/mud.Duncan

To be fair Dunc I think you have most bases covered. Take out a good policy for breakdown. The AA have just sent through paperwork for their cover. Which for the money would be good for a trip like yours. Would just have to check the small print they cover Europe. But I would hope if you have Europe cover then the policy would cover you.
Did you still want a copy of the roadbook I have??HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
