Sport Mode

While test driving the TDV6 auto, I was invited to use the 'Sport' mode position of the Auto Box - it definitely had an impact - but has anyone got any real world experiences of what Sport mode does to the MPG?

I use it quite a lot, and it does use more fuel. This is more than likely because I have put it into sport to drive fast anyway!

I have no comparison for using sport mode at normal speeds.

With mine it knocks 3 or 4mpg off what ever I'm getting before I select Sport. Depending on how much kit I'm carrying.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I use mine in to get the car to change up into the highest gear possible and try to keep the revs between 1800 & 2200. I thought this si where there is most torque.
I also use it a lot off road.

hi non stick nick, belive tht if u select any programs apart frm general
in offroad mode the sport selection is not availiable.

i belive tht on sport keeps on gear lower and the changes are on hiher revl.
i use sport when overtake on highways, and deff is perfect when i drive
on ''S''roads up the mountains, also feel tht when downhill (again in ''S'' roads) the engine braking is better with sport mode.

At the risk of appearing a bit thick, where is the Sport mode selector? The V8 feels great, but if it can be improved .... Twisted Evil

Move the gear selector to the left, thats all. The word SPORT should then appear in the right hand lcd display under the gear position indication.

From SPORT you can then invoke command shift by pushing the lever forwards or pulling it backwards.

A V8 in sport should be interesting Wink

If you use sport when cruising on the motorway it will hold the box in 5th when travelling at 85~90, dropping it into auto changes to 6th and drops revs by approx 500 hence better fuel economy.

Discovery 300tdi - 119K and still going strong
Radical Clubsport 1100 - for a bit of fun
