Hello all,
I'm going to be eventually fitting 4 LF170s to an expo rack 8) and i'm wondering the best way (how everyone else) has wired them in?
Do you run to the back of the rack then inside through the boot etc or down(inside) the front pillar straight into the engine bay?
TIA

You could be lazy and get 10forcash to do them, by all accounts he does a bang up job!

Exactly my thoughts also.
However if you do it yourself, I'd reckon 'in through the rear'.
That way you're away from driving rain etc and will be more protected.
But hey, what do I know !

On the G4 the wires run down both A-pillars and into the engine bay with just the switch wires being fed into the passenger compartment through the un-used clutch grommet. Makes for a very neat install

Get 10forcash to do it. He'll run the cable down to the rear of the car and in through a grommet close to the rear light cluster, which makes a nice and tidy install.
You will also have the benefit of being able to remove the rack and wiring, leaving a nice little waterproof connector to reconnect it upto, as and when required.
Thanks for the reply's!
Was thinking about 10forcash for sure, but was wondering how hard or easy it is to do it myself. Seems a long way to go all the way to the back of the car then all the way back to the front again, but that's why i asked the question to see the best way to do it!
Buellbeast, is the wiring visible where it goes and where it is hidden? quite interested in the same route as the G4.
I could put some waterproof connectors in the front cowling of the rack so if wanting to take it off there is always an option there too i suppose!Filming something somewhere...

Wiring on the G4 is completely hidden. It runs under the roof strip then down behind the outer cover on the a pillar and into the engine compartment. Your welcome to inspect mine to see how its done, all in all a very tidy job.
Although its not easily removable but if you installed a couple of quick release connectors as you mentioned, then why not.

I would do as buellbeast says if its possibile with your rack, run the wires via A-pillars and into the engine bay to the battery and relays with just the switching wires being fed into the passenger compartment through the clutch grommet.
It makes sence to me only runnng the low current switch wires into the car (or even just the relay GND wires) and the man feed wires are all external and more to the point shorter than having to go to the back and then to the front of the rack.
The connectors for removing the rack dont need to be added if you intend to keep it fitted, these can be fitted at a later date if and when needed.
Or fit sone connectors under the bonnet and if you remove the rack remove the wires from behind the A pillar with it.
Ill fit them for labour costs only if you get the stuff.

nah, the labour the other day was all his, i only solderd 2 wires and helped him remove some trim.
The loan of the garage space was a good will guesture because i didnt have anything coming in.
The light install job will be a book in, leave car, collect later and pay lol.

I did choose to run them via the tailgate and conneted behind the rear light
Much easier and certainly faster if you want to take it off.
And if you take 2 times the A-pillar off you are set for new plastic bits and parts.
