Battery arrived this am (excellent service from Tanya) - fitted in half an hour. Eco Fault light now gone, no stop start events triggered on a short run, so waiting for a longer run to see if that kicks in again.

Make sure your main battery is fully charged too.. (is the stop start one the new one? Likely if the 'Eco' light has gone out)..

Glad the new small battery install has fixed the eco warning light. As has been said , the main battery needs to be well charged and in good condition for stop /start to work. Since your eco light has been on quite a few months, it may be that the main battery condition has deteriorated in that time. Having said that there are many reasons why stop/start may not kick in that are built in to the car's monitoring system.
If your main battery is the orginal 5+ years old then it's quite likely it will need replacing (soon if not now). Give it a good charge, and see if stop/start kicks in then. Note, if the car is doing a DPF clean cycle then that is one reason it won't kick in, so give the car a 20 min run over 40mph if you haven't done that for a while).
Cheers
 Gary

Ran into this same issue. Once I got a low Batt. warning the system just never worked well and was intermittent, and random sporadic errors/problems across other modules.

Replaced Primary better first, but still problems with EC. Replaced Secondary, poof, all better. Did a BMS reset after each. My batteries were 3 years old when I picked it up used.

Yet in the end, I disabled stop/start in CCF, and couldn't be happier. Wish the system was reversed with stop/start OFF as default, and I can turn it on when I hit the button in bumper to bumper traffic. Couldn't see any options in CCF to set it up that way.
