Steering arms

Anyone changed there own steering arms?

I am about to do mine an the new ones have a square edge on the ball into the rack end. Where as what i have on the vehicle does not. Therefore no way to grip the old steering arm to get it out from the rack?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just a little update ( especially for Tim - and I will call you)

I had a go at these this morning. Managed to get them off with stilsons. No bother.

Put it all back together and about to go and get tracking done when all the lights came on HDC fault/suspension lower/special functions off.

So i rebooted - dome it again....

So now I have another fault - any ideas if it is linked?

how far can I drive it with lowered suspension?

Ta

Do the faults clear once the engine is started? I had these come up in cold weather and it's low battery voltage related Crying or Very sad

No the faults only appear when you go over say 15mph?

You can clear it fine when you restart

Did you have anything else unplugged? Check the wiring to the wheel speed sensor and height sensors etc

I had same warnings when one of my arms was bent in Wales. Warnings were due to steering sensor sending an out of range signal.

In an "old fashined kind of way" did you try and copy settings between new and old. i.e same number of turns to get off, as turns on when replaced? Was the car asleeep when you did the work ?

Sounds like it may be a dealer reset and tracking job Thumbs Up

90 BHP - spot on - I could not think that changing these arms would cause the whole system to shut down.

I measured them before removing them but the garage said it was out of range ( not measurable).

So £30 tracking and the system is running fine now.

thanks to your bit of knowledge

( PS I was going to do tracking anyway but thought driving it on access mode may create more problems)
