Good Morning All
Can anyone tell me if the steering rack for my D3 V8 is different to the diesel please?
Mine needs replacing and am struggling to find a part.

Hi. It should be identical.
I had play on the input shaft of mine (also 4.4) and swapped it out with a second hand unit from a breaker, this one came off a Diesel.

Why does your rack need replacing, where is the play?
I suspect I have play in the rack of my 4.4 after replacing everything else but I am struggling to diagnose other than wondering / vague steering even with perfect alignments and new suspension parts etc.
I don't know how you can have play in rack and pinion but I guess you can?

There’s a leak from where the steering column joins. Managed to find a fairly cheap replacement that’s about to go in as finding the seals was a nightmare. BT Gap IID
