Stick or twist?

Looking for any advice/thoughts!

We have a D4 on a 10-plate, 138000 on the clock and generally been very pleased with it. However of late there is a warning of some type every time we take it out - Restricted Performance or Suspension Fault the faves - neither actually affect the drive!

We're tempted to change for a newer model, seen a few 14-15 plates around with 60k on clock. I just can't make my mind up whether to risk it or not!

I'm also looking at the XC90 Shocked

FWIW - we have 3 late teen kids and tow a TA Caravan regularly, as such the D4 ticks all the boxes for us.

What would you do eh?

personally I would stick. I have been in the same boat and jumped but regretted it only to buy another D4. I have owned Q7s, X5s, range rovers, sports etc. but still come back to D4s (this is my 4th!!) For what you will get if you sell your D4 run it into the ground the newer ones are not enough of an improvement to take the leap

Just my opinion Thumbs Up

So have you had the fault codes read for the warnings that are appearing? This may save you in the long run, and avoid at worse a breakdown, or best an empty wallet.
The car is telling you to get it looked at. Ignoring because it drives okay is not good practice.

The Restricted Performance error comes up as Water in fuel filter - has all been changed but comes on periodically still. Was checked again and same error.

Suspension is a newer one and haven't had chance to get it read yet

Well the Mrs and I had a long chat about it, decided we should stick with what we have, then ignored our advice and went shopping Laughing

Found a nice 16 plate 'Graphite' - fingers crossed we made the right decision!

I was in a similar situation albeit with a D3.
Also have a family and a TA caravan, it was the perfect vehicle.

Had it for 7 years, loved it. All was relatively fine apart from the usual Disco expenditure (arms, tyres, EGRs gearbox flush etc) until it got to 10 years old when it dropped off a cliff. It was one thing after another. Compressor, air tank, EPB, pads and disks, brake master cylinder, EGRs for a second time (blanked and patched this time), battery, radiator.....

Enough was enough.

I dearly wanted another one, and looked at some really nice D4s. But to be honest in the end, I couldn't stomach the lottery of the chocolate cranks.

I bought a Touareg R-Line 262 in black which is a really nice place to be. If I'm honest it towed our TA from Co.Durham to Cornwall probably better than the D3

Just my point of view.

A nice 16 plate 'Graphite' Thumbs Up

How long is the JLR Approved warranty now? I would thoroughly advise getting a WD warranty before it expires.

Did you change the full fuel filter housing? It’s the sensor in the housing that causes the issue. Replacing just the fuel filter won’t fix the issue Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
