Sticky dipstick

Strange as it sounds it is getting more and more difficult to get the dipstick out of my engine and almost impossible to get it back in. I've tried smearing the whole thing in oil but to no avail. Is there anything "down there" that it'll be catching on?

Thanks, BCP

Dealers had a look today and may need a new tube and dipstick but no obvious cause. No damage to dipstick. I've got a 55 plate, are the new ones still the ball design? Wondered about just buying a new dipstick and trying it.

Have you tried taking her out for a meal and buy her a drink or two.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Have you tried oiling it? Whistle
Once the tip's in, adjust the angle to that of the 'tube' and apply gentle but firm pressure until it's all the way in Wink
