STT pressure in mud ?

Hello

it's my my second day driving with my STTs in Mud.

On road, i use the recommended pressure (2.3 front, 2.9 rear), but while offrading, until now, i'm using 2 Bars on the 4 wheels.

sometinmes, it appears that the tyre stays full, and isn't freeing itself from mud, leading to the loss of trajectory, as well as loss of traction.

Does someone have any recommendations for the pressure with STT in Mud ?

Hummm....

No-one wears Cooper STT and practice offroading with Mud ?

When I had STTs I just left them at normal road pressures all the time, seemed fine Confused

WSe left Rob's STT's at normal pressure in snow & mud. Only seemed to get stuck at the same places as everyone else......

You can quite happily go down to about 1.4 if you like as the sidewalls are quite thick and don't deform as quick as std tyres

I keep my STTs at normal road pressures whatever the terrain. They seem to work OK.

Off road, IMHO, you should always drop tyre pressures - with my MTR's on the D2 (similar to the STT) - I always ran them in mud, ruts, rock at around 18-22 PSI. Not sure what this translates in Bar. I use a similar rulre with the Mickey Thomspon ATZ on my D3.

In sand, you sometimes have to go even lower - as low as 12-16psi. So long as you reinflate before high speed tarmac driving - this is the way to best enjoy your drive, and get through most terrain, as well as minimise the chance of staking a tyre with sticks or rocks.

i think i'll test with a square 16-18 PSI.

For the others, you should try to lower the tyre pressure when you have difficulties in Mud, you'll see the differene.

When i started with my STTs (those are my first Mud tyres) i was under a road pressure (2.5 Front, 2.9 Rear) and on a sleepery hill, i couldn't go up...the tyres were full, and hey weren't autocleaning enough. I dropped the pressure to a square 2.0...and it ran through the hill with no difficulty...

IMHO you should always drop your tyre pressure - even if the car is getting through at the normal pressures - you'll save wear on the car (shrub hugger mode on) and it is friendlier to the environment as well (shrub hugger mode off) Mr. Green
