Styling Kit - DIY Fitting |
|
I'm off work in a couple of weeks so gearing up to attempt to fit my styling kit
I'm trying to get everything ready and prepared but having read the instructions I see that you need to spray the existing parking sensors?
How did people do this who fitted the bumper themselves DIY? The centre bit of the kit is silver; does anyone know the colour code to spray the sensors the same colour?
Thanks
Ade

Ade,
by luck i found a colour that is close to the silver section, not an exact match, but close enough.
Now, don't ask the colour, as it is a home made mix that i made up for a bike that i resprayed. The outer sensors are a match to the car.
If you are in the area, drop me a pm and i'll give you my mobile number and i will let you have some, or if you'd prefer, i can spray them in for you at my house? ATB

You should have dropped them in on Sat when you were through.
You have a couple of choices left. Either go to one of your local automotive paint suppliers and get them to match the colour from one of the Grey shade charts or ask if the have a paint scanner and if they will scan the colour for you.
Now, this is where a slight problem might arrise, as you are only requiring the minimum amount, so might not be worth their time to scan the section for such a small amount of material.
You should be able to get a spray can of 2k base coat, though it won't be cheap, well not as cheap as a halfords colour off the shelf.
If push comes to shove, then you can always take a run through once you have the car finished and i'll paint them in place. No biggie to mask off around the 2 sensors. ATB

The sensors were still on the car when I came through on Saturday, and are still on the car now
Wont get chance to fit the bumpers until the weekend, and when I do it will off witht eh old and on with the new in one day, so would be ideal to be able to pain them myself
Nick (TLO) is also looking into it
Oh, and that hot rod looked nuts 8)
