A 'suitable pipe' for draining the fuel filter
Hello again,
If anybody was wondering what constitutes a 'suitable pipe' for draining water from the fuel filter on a diesel D4, help is at hand.
I purchased both 8mm and 6mm 50cm lengths of tube from eBay and the 6mm pipe did the trick.
I would have successfully drained off some fuel without spilling had I properly anticipated the force of the fuel pump at work! The jug I put the tube into shot out once under pressure and spilled diesel on my drive. I would suggest a large water bottle with a narrow top would have worked better.
No water found, so more investigation is required to fix the restricted performance fault.
Pipe/tubing available at the link below (no affiliation etc.) - choose 6mm/50cm @ £2.20.

If you’re getting RP because of the fuel in water error, it will be because the sensor which is in the housing is shot. You need a new fuel filter housing.
I had this issue a year or two back.

Thanks, do you know the part number? Is it just the few wires and the sensor that screw into the base of the filter or the whole shebang that the filter screws into?

You need one of these.

Its a known known fault on the housing. Speak to one of the site sponsors. Mine came frim Dan at Duckworths and incl. The filter.
It's a bit of a pain to fit, but can be done on the drive if you're handy.2011 MY D4 HSE

I had this problem also. Replacing the fuel filter housing solved it.Kev
