Summer tour of Lapland

Greetings! Me and the youngling are doing a summer trip to Nordkapp and the plan is to ferry to Esbjerg and then catch the E20, E10, E6 north along the Gulf of Bothnia to Pajala and then to Nordkapp. We'll be under canvass (other man-made alternatives are available), so any advice, tips, places to visit would be greatly appreciated. Apart from the extortionate fuel prices and the kamikaze wildlife, what else do I need to look out for? Cheers!

Tried, back in 2007 at Easter. Was defeated by the bad weather a little north of the Arctic Circle. We could have continued north, but then couldn't guarantee catching our return ferry to the UK.

Not sure what guidance I could offer, other than it takes longer to travel everywhere than you think (twisty roads really hit the average speeds). Had a cracking time, aim to get back there sometime.

Did a similar trip some years ago with twin axle caravan and 4 bikes attached to the caravan. Took ferry to Esberg and drove to Hirtshals at northern end and took another ferry to Krisiansand in Norway (no bridge when we went). Then drove a very long way up to Nordkapp with stop offs along the way. Breathtaking scenery, careful with the Reindeer and I would agree with previous post where journeys take much longer than you think, sometimes twice or three times as long. Check departure times of internal ferries as we missed the last one and the drive back to van lasted until 2.30am!!!!. Our return was down through Finland to Helsinki (watch for the midges) then a ferry (more like a cruise ship) to Stockholm and a quiet return through southern Sweden and back to Denmark. All in all about 5 weeks. Take a dam good camera and you will brink back some fab memories.
Top tip - be careful when filling up with diesel as their red equivalent isn't clearly marked and it is 'very easy' to make a mistake and I only noticed when the price digits were moving very slowly but that was after about 15 galls went in. I did finish off with some normal and got receipts to show genuine mistake. P.S. I don't speak Norwegian.
Another top tip - take as much food as you possibly can as everything is eye wateringly expensive.

dfds Tilbury to gothenburg via a freight ferry is the best way£690.if you drive through denmark via copenhagen you have a couple of very expensive crossings and a great saving in fuel and gone this way and its boring.2 crossings per week.
