Sunroof Blind

My center sunroof blind does not want to stay shut. Nothing obviously wrong with the catch, although it does seem a little feeble compared with the front one.

Anyone have any ideas how to cure this as I don't fancy the dealer pulling the car apart??

Seems to be an uncommon issue, The catches on mine dont seem to be very strong, and it would appear that your only course of action would be to order the parts yourself, and fit a new catch.

The catch is little more than small plastic lip the relies on the edge of the blind aligning properly with a similar lip on the roof

Have look to see that the lip is still there, that the release mech is not causing premature release, and that the edge of the blind is straight.

You could also compare the catch with the rear one.

On my car the catch doesn't "catch" if there's any upwards pressure on the blind when closing - just a feature of the design

Thanks for the replies. The catch on the center one seems to be smaller and less robust than the front and rear (why would it be different??). I have to pull down on the catch slightly for it to latch at all. Unfortunatly even shutting the door has it whipping back at speed!

I hope that the just the catch can be replaced. Don't fancy having the headlining taken apart. You just know a dealer would make a hash of it.

Still, I have to go to the dealer to have a new key fob 'coded' and fix the 'coolant low' sensor so I suppose the catch could make the 3rd task.

Didn't expect to see the dealer so soon into my purchase.

Our Disco3 has the same symptom, which upon further investigation seems to be caused by a "runner" on the edge of the solid plastic front bar thingy (the part that has the clip attached to it) having snapped off. This part holds the blind nice and level on both sides. According to the dealer, they have to replace the entire blind, but apparently the liner doesn't have to come out.
This is a catch-22, because we can't run around with the blind open all the time 'cos the kids will get sunburn (maybe in UK, not such a biggie Smile), and I am a bit scared to have the liner taken out, as it can't ever be the same as new afterwards.
Anyone else had this problem, or had to have the centre blind replaced?

LR were aware of the problem and have produced a new 'former' which my dealer fitted in next to no time. Nothing had to be taken apart & the fix worked first time. It's perfect now.

Brilliant, thanks. Any chance you have the part number or official description so I can be sure to get the latest part?

Sorry, they just used the word 'former', that's all I know.

I had the same problem with my Disco. I had fixed with a small piece of rubber between the catch and the metal roof. So far it is working. I am waiting for a LR answer. Idea
