Surround cameras - again! |
|
I know there has been quite a few threads on various woes regarding the surround cameras and their propensity to throw up blue screen errors.
Both front cameras on my 2011 (but 2012 spec) D4 have resorted to showing the BSOD, and, the rear facing and drivers door cam both flash between the BSOD and the correct image before settling down and working correctly. The passenger door works instantly.
Selecting reverse shows the full image immediately.
Now, I know that many have had wiring harnesses replaced which has, in most cases, fixed the problem (albeit sometimes briefly). However, the fact that the reverse cam works fine on one screen but struggles on another makes me think that it is a systems fault not a wiring problem. It doesn’t help that the camera inputs are not only coloured but also keyed, so, making it impossible to plug a known working cam into a problem port. This would be my normal way of isolating a problem.
I’ve no idea if any software patches or updates have been applied. I don’t want to take it to a dealers for them to faff about and suggest the only solution is to change the harness. It seems that they have no capability to diagnose faults other than trial and error.
Anyone have any experience of diagnosing camera problems or got any ideas?
Alternatively any recommendations for a good Indy that could help?
Short of getting a camera that could selectively be connected to each port, I don’t see how the fault can be isolated to the module or wiring or cameras. Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)
