Should the suspension compressor have play? |
|
I replaced my suspension compressor a few months ago but the thought that I installed it incorrectly persists.. So far the system is working fine. When I installed the new compressor I noticed that it had some up and down play. The bolts didn't seem to cinch the compressor nice and firm to the rubber bushings. The bolts semed to bottom out but the compressor still had some vertical play. I didn't notice if the old one had the same play so I have nothing to reference.

Yep, there is some 'play' in the rubber mountings, to help dampen any vibration when it is running Never get mad - get even !!

I would guesstimate 1/4" of movement. This was the third compressor so although I transferred the one rubber bushing from the second one perhaps some were left out on the #1 to #2 replacement. (previous owner, the dealer probably did the work).
