Suspension Fault After Changing front Lower Arms

Hi,

I hope I've posted this in the right section. (I tried in the faults section but it said I needed to be a moderator)

You've probably had this question quite a few times before and I've searched the forum but I can't find anything that relates specifically to my case so apologies to anyone repeating themselves.

I had new front lower suspension arms fitted on my 2005 disco (by a friend). Since then I've had the dreaded "bong" happen every time I have driven the car with the display stating there is a suspension fault and the light on the dash with the two arrows either side of the car comes on first orange and then red. When it changes to red it comes up with a new message saying max speed 30mph (the car does not lower itself at this stage it stays at the normal drive height).

The car seems to drive fine and there does not seem to be any issue when lowering or raising the car.

I've had the faults cleared etc.. but the same suspension fault kept coming up.

So, I had the ventilation valve regulator changed and the car was fine for a day - No light or fault after that it was same as before.

Current fault codes are as follows:
C1A13 - Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery
U0421 - Invalid data received from ride level control module
U0132 - Lost communication with ride level control module

Any help as to what could fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you had the steering angle sensor recalibrated as that has to be done after changing the arms and also must get 4 wheel alignment done Thumbs Up

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I had the alignment done on all 4 wheels after changing the arms.

Not sure about the steering angle sensor - Would they have done that when they re-aligned the wheels?

Thanks for posting will be useful in the future.

If you have an IID tool the recalibration is really easy. Thumbs Up

Thanks again Batfink

Is the above a known fix for the problem I'm having? If that doesn't work is there anything else I can try?

There is plenty of information on here about these issues and I believe this does happen sometimes.

Thanks bud, I've had a look at various threads but it seems there can be a whole host of issues that cause this problem and not all the symptoms are the same as mine (some cars don't lower or one side is lower etc...) hence why I thought I'd start a new thread and start the process of elimination specific to my problem. Thanks again and I will try what you suggested Thumbs Up

Well I'm glad you did, because I'm about to get the lower from arms changed on mine and I didn't know about needing to get an alignment and reseting the steering angle sensor.

The list of things required for my Disco just keeps getting longer Sad at least I don't have to pay a dealer thanks to this awesome forum Smile

It is also essential the bushes are locked off at normal ride height, not with the wheels dangling while the car is jacked up.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
