Suspension reset in the field?!

I got caught up in this poster's troubles with HDC and totally failed to notice this quote until just a moment ago

The HDC failure warning has appeared consistantly every day since it was last at the dealers (about 8 weeks ago). If I dont bother to reset with the 5 key turns then the HDC fault doesnt display at all (but the suspension is in safe mode and hence a bit more rubbish to drive than normal) . Interestingly I can raise and lower the car when it is in the fault mode. I can also confirm that the HDC is in fact working dispite the error message to the contrary.

Shocked

And then this in an earlier thread from last year http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic17483-15.html

The main problem was that the suspension had dropped to the bump stops and the ride was awful. Desperate, I tried the 5 key turns technique and was delighted to find that I was able to clear the suspension fault, restoring the suspension system to normal working.

Can anyone confirm this (as my suspension is currently not on the bump stops Very Happy )?

Never heard of that one. You can clear the faults by doing a cold boot.:

Wait for 'P' light to go out
Disconnect the battery.
Touch battery terminals together for ten secs.

Remember this will clear all the fault codes so dealer will not be able to access them to diagnose what the problem was.
Good in an emergency but better getting it to the dealer if you can.

You mean the ve+ and ve- leads, right? There could be some serious consequences for shorting the terminals... Very Happy

Yup that's what you do. Thumbs Up Don't ask why......it's a D3. Laughing
You have removed the power source when you take the terminals off the battery.
I am sure someone will be along to confirm.

I haven't heard of the 5 key turn reset.

However the following post gives details on the 'cold boot' or 'hard reset' outlined by CaverD3:
