System failure !

In the wee hours of this morning whilst driving down the A5 through Wales I had abit of a systems failure I think Confused

basically, at about 3am I came upon a foggy patch so having fitted fogs recently I switched 'em with a told-you-Id-need-em-dear kinda flick. Two mins later the dash wnt blank - lights still working up front thank jebus but quiet a strange thing. The panel on the stereo, trip comp and the panel to its right all shone brightly but everyother light in the car went off.

I immediately switched off the fogs thinking that was the problem and everything came back on.....but, eventhough I left off the fogs from then on it happened 2-3 times again. Then perfect for about half hours driving. I used the fogs again and nothing happened. Very strange indeed.

My own system was shutting down too so I pulled up outside someones house and climbed in the back for a few hours kip. Worked a treat Thumbs Up

Anyone had this happen to their dash? cant imagine the fogs would mess with the system like that Confused

Saw some posts here on how the wiring loom to the fogs wears through, and causes shorts.

Sounds like a possible cause - worth a search at least

Did you retro fit the fogs? If so presumably you fitted a new switch when you added them on so has the wiring connector into the back of it come partly adrift?

HI Lads

Loom is perfect so cant see that being the issue - worth checking tho.

The loom into the switch is fine too - seemed as if the problem was more internal than that. For all the lights to go out like that, apart from the 3 larger panels was very un-nerving.

If I can recall correctly there was a 'click' went they went out and came back on

Relay of some sort Confused ?

Kidal like the sme thing that happens when you switch it to Auto when you dont have auto lights .

Tants did you stick in/connect the loom for the ABar lamps the last day you were at my place or merely just route it?
