| Tailgate Latch unlocking all the time! |

It's driving me crazy!  - The upper tailgate on my 2005 D3 has been intermittently unlocking itself for the past year, thereby illuminating the interior light and the warning light on the dash as I'm going along! I'm starting to dread that 'ZIK' from the back of the car every time my speed drops below walking pace.... It never happens above 10mph or if the car is locked, but will even occur if the car is unlocked and unattended on my drive, and even when the upper tailgate is already open!!  The worst aspect is that it often waits for me to get the engine started, belt up, select first gear and away it goes! 'ZIK' Aarghh!! sometimes there's even repeated operations - 'ZIK-ZIK-ZIK-ZIK' up to about 6 times...  then nothing for 2 weeks...  Favourite place is traffic lights, roundabouts, or MacDonalds drive thru...  Loads of info on the forum for a sticking tailgate, but has anyone else heard of this? That which doesn't kill me, only serves to make me longer.

Check for corrosion in the switch on the tailgate handle

Water in the switch, had this on mine. You can clean it up with some WD40 etc, but it is a temporary fix. I bought a complete new rear door handle from the Large One for £40 odd.
