Tax Rules March 2018
Hi all
Sorry if I have missed this in the many threads I have read on the topic... I was just looking for some clarification.
I have a Early 2005 D3 which I specifically sourced because being a cheap ar**.... I wanted to avoid the escalated tax increase on the later models.
I had read somewhere that older cars will 'move up' a group..... which would see me paying over £500 a year compared to my current £270
Anyway.... will the changes in tax rules make my model liable to a higher duty in March or do the changes only really affect new models??
Thanks in advance

U talking bout the changes a time the last budget? As I recall only on new cars that aren't EURO6 compliant, they pay double the start up tax.

I'm sure I'd read somewhere that there were plans for older diesel cars to move up one group.
This would put me into a higher tax bracket almost twice what I am currently paying.....
Its the old story of targeting the wrong people who can ill afford to make those kind of lifestyle choices....
I've never been in a position to purchase a new car so haven't really been affected in past years as a result I haven't paid much attention to the new rules.
Will wait and see what happens..... might be another D3 sadly up for sale if this is the case.... Its twice as much as I pay in insurance Mods so far:

Existing rates will only rise in line with inflation.

True......
But nevertheless its a hit to the pocket that I could really do without.....and one which I see no benefit from - it wouldn't be so bad if I thought the money was going towards improving the highways but sadly I see no evidence of this and roads near me are in a shocking state Mods so far:
