What are the 3 cutouts for ? Are they used on the LR ?

The three cut outs engage with the bolt heads on the viscous thing behind the fan so you can hold it while undoing the fan.

At that price I bought the proper ones as I am bound to need them at some time.

The tool I was missing was a hammer
Note to self: the spanner does move to the passenger side.

Clockwise, quick hit with a dead blow mallet on the spanner should loosen it.π

Well I disagree - My D4 has a standard clockwise thread and require a standard anticlockwise crack to undo. Eg I use a cold chisel and mallet on the left hand side of the top of the nut to free it.

Ignore me. Went outside and checked and I was wrong. Sorry. Itβs clockwise to undo. I checked the marks on the right side of the fan nut
