I reckon mine must be grade'D', (+ or - 1/2" ), although it doesn't use much oil, just small top ups at 4k, and about 8.5k, then none needed, just had 1st service at 11k.

Just a couple of small top-ups pre-6000 miles. Not used a drop of oil since.

My S has used about 2.5l in 7500 miles, the HSE about 1.5 ltrs in 8700 miles. Both TDV6 Autos. Both had the free "inspection" at 2000 miles but no idea if any added then.

Had to add a litre at 2K miles but now at nearly 8K and no extra oil has been needed. Had its first service in October and since then the oil level has not even changed.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
