How to test the D3 Suspension is fully operational.

When test driving a D3 at a dealer, what steps should I follow to test the suspension is working fully. I can’t seem to find a link that explains this. Is there an owners manual on this site? Thanks again.

I would say just make sure you can put into access and off road modes.

when i bought my D4 in august, i quite literally pressed every single button to make sure that something happened
terrain modes, diff lock, suspension up/down to all options smoothly, HDC, DSC, windows (from all switches) door locks, went through all the gears up and down.

and then i repeated the process about another 5 times each Laughing

to be fair the dealer i bought it from (SW Car supermarket Peterborough) just left me the keys and walked away for 30 mins so i had no pressure and plenty of time to play.

RogB, that sounds similar to my experience when buying my D4. Anything that is electric I pressed the button to ensure it operated something, often not knowing how it should operate! At one stage I thought the power folding mirrors weren't working until we turned the ignition on and they could be folded.

For the suspension, just check that it can lower and raise a couple of times and you should be fine. I did this several time including at traffic lights. On the D4 if you are in access height and go above 6 mph the car should automatically raise itself to normal height. I might be worth checking this happens, assuming the D3 is the same. The access height can be fixed (Crawl mode) for areas with height restrictions. ON the D4 press and hold the lower button until you see it is locked (not sure how the D3 indicates this, but the D4 lights a padlock next to the switch). Crawl mode stays until the vehicle goes above 24 mph.
Off road height can be selected at any speed up to 24 mph. If the vehicle goes above 30 mph it will return to normal height.

All the above are from the D4 manual, but hopefully it is similar enough on the D3 to be useful.

Regards,
Steve
