Thanks to the forum - Timing Belt, Oil Pump etc
Just wanted to say thanks to the forum.
6 months after buying the car and 4 months after buying the parts I finally got round to replacing the
timing belt, oil pump, water pump and unplanned the alternator bracket.
I wouldn't have been able to without the excellent guides and help from here.

Yes, the corrosion between the steel bolt and aluminium bracket welded them together. When I tried to wind the bolts out the threads came with one and the casing shattered with the other (see photo)

Well I started Saturday morning about 10am - took a 6 hour break while the wife went out shopping till I got the kids in bed and then carried on through till 4am on Sunday morning.
I then did another 2 hours on Tuesday night once the new bracket arrived - so I reckon all in all about 14 hours. Yes I'd do it again, not a hard job really if things don't break/seize. I reckon I could get it down to under 6 hours knowing where everything is now having done it once.

Good luck - it sounds obvious but one tip is to remove ALL the guards underneath. The transmission one makes accessing the whole starter area so much easier! Also depending on which locking pins you have the flywheel one may well need slimming down by half a mm.
The push the new seal home I used the white plastic retaining thingy from the new oil pump but switched it around so the flat side pushed evenly against the seal, then the crank pulley on backwards then the OLD crank bolt to wind it in and push it evenly!
