thieves stole my towbar......
Hi wa*kers srole my removable towbar last night. I don't need to replace this just yet but when I do I want to do so with a fixed type. Can anyone indicate how much I would be likely to pay for a good second hand one?

Sorry to hear of your loss but there is a clue in the name "removable"
There are plenty of posts warning of this and it would appear that the thieving scumbags can take them off quicker than you can with a key When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

The thing with this issue Kev, it's been going on since time began, has been very well documented on just about every forum, including this one where it has been discussed to death yet people still report having them stolen.
You'll generally get little sympathy now so you cannot be surprised by the lack of compassion.
A replacement "removeable" type is usually around £150 from the For Sale section, fixed prices vary. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

The situation (ie the thread) was/is not helped by the fact that Kev initially started two threads. The first of these simply had his first sentence in it, to which I think Luapno gave a perfectly reasonable reply!Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE and 2013 MY D4 HSE

Hi all
Yes sorry i did start a previous thread and hit the submit before intended..........
Thankyou for the note Narpy - i think i will go for the fixed option next.....
My spare is only an old steel one and i think it has the shield around the cable [from memory this is the upgrade fitted to prevent stealing gits having that away as well]
How easy is it to remove without a key - knock the pin out and then turn the spindle with mole grips etc?
Any advice on best fixed solution - Witter?
Thanks

Shield around the cable does absolutely squat to stop the wheel being nicked.

Uncle Ray plate. Thieves tremble at the thought of Ray's crime preventing prowess.
