Bad luck Sea Raider

Out of interest dose the ECU store this type of data ? I wonder how long there was an oil pressure issue before you could hear it.... and then the actual failure

The 2.2 certainly is a tough engine. Who’d have thought that those would be the sought after versions in years to come?!

I recall over on Freel2 a few members were thinking of getting the DS at launch were disappointed that the the old 2.2 was being fitted and not the Ingenium, if they knew then what they know now.

I'm running a 2009 FL2 and the 2.2 engine is basically bulletproof. Best I've ever looked after and simple too. No DPF, simple engineering and loads of space in the bay to work on it. Perfect amount of grunt for the FL2 weight.

Am I wrong to think that it is probably the best engineered engine they've ever produced? It's done 135000 miles without a beat wrong, it feels like it would do the same again just as easily.

You wouldn't, but it's actually a PSA engine, so not produced by JLR... Laughing

When I jumped ship after getting jitters on the D4 engine l specifically looked for an evoque or disco sport with the older 2.2 engine as the ingenium engine has its own set of problems l eventually settled on 2.2 evoque because of the problems with creaking B plllars on the sport at least one ford produced engine seems reliable! Shocked

I reckon the best “Land Rover” built engine is the TD5. Its not perfect, but is a pretty reliable engine that sounds and goes well.

Sounds and goes well? Sure, if you’re into tractors Whistle

(The 4.4 liter V8 petrol is rather reliable) #justsaying

Thumbs Up

Didn’t realise as first they done different versions of the 4.4

Think it was BMW and then Jag petrol V8 , then the ford 4.4 diesel for the L322

Trying to remember if it was the 4.4 petrol for the D3 but not fitted in the D4 , they had the 5 x litre

Think that was the engine options and must admit seeing I do low mileage wouldn’t mind a petrol 4.4 , would prefer the jag engine

For petrols:

D3 was available with “Jaguar” 4.4 liter V8 (“AJ41”) and Ford 4.0 liter V6 (“Cologne”). The AJ41 was also available on RRS L320 and FFRR L322.
D4 was available with “Jaguar” 5.0 liter V8 (“AJ133”) until MY13. MY14 forward the engine was a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 (“AJ126”). The Cologne V6 4.0 was available in some markets and model years (not sure which), too. My understanding is that the V8 and SCV6 were used also available on RRS and FFRR.

Thumbs Up
