Hi all, I currently have a Freelander 1 (terrible k series engine) and want to change. I have been looking at the Disco 3 but I am a bit hesitant! Should I buy one or not??? I have read mixed reviews online with a lot of people saying it is very reliable and engine is good for 250k miles and then a few other reviews saying not to bother. I love the look of the disco 3 but I don’t know what to do.
What do you guys think???

There’s loads to read on here that should help your decision. There not the easiest motor to have and look after but when running right there brilliant.
It is very much a personal choice.
Stick a few pounds away each week/month to allow for any problems and you’ll be ok. If you’ve run the Freelander K, your in for a nice surprising time.

It all depends on your proposed use and budget.
As lynalldiscovery says the FL2 is a nice car.

I’d say yes, go for it! My 2006 D3 is on 170k miles and both the engine and gearbox are In great shape.
I’ve had a few ‘teething problems’ with brakes, but they’ve mostly been easy fixes.
With 190hp under the bonnet I’m never left short of grunt, even when I’ve got 7 people in the car.
It’s a great vehicle and it’s very capable off road too. 12 months of D3 ownership have passed and I’m still loving it!
