I think it is an offshoot of the Jag/LR family deal with Tata owning what is left of the steel industry (my wife's job) and Jaguar Land Rover. The price list says 'Privilege Scheme' on it and the small print (badly photocopied) says that we can only buy 1 car a year on the deal and that we have to retain it for a minimum of 12 months.

Ok, back from the dealer and with tints, remote climate and heated steering wheel they said an HSE would price out at just under £43k.

The less than excellent news was the £10.5k offered for my HSE; a price that does not reflect the tender care it has had.

So £32.5k to change plus or minus the PX price and potential LR price changes and it would not surprise them if a factory order was as late as Jan and the best to hope for would be December.

They may have a couple of HSEs from stock from Monday though, but they have no idea about the spec or price yet.

I will see what Monday brings.

Thumbs Up

Pretty standard 05 HSE (Grey with black interior) in very good condition (although there is a fair amount of 'grandfather's axe' about it, just like a lot of the D3s on here!). The value is only what someone else is prepared to pay!

I hope it goes to a good home and is looked after by a fellow D3 enthusiast.

Disability allowance is not a Land Rover discount, it is the car not having VAT added by the dealer and being VAT free. Many dealers have had their books scrutinised regarding these deals as the scheme is often abused. [/quote]

Permanently adapted can be a removable handle on the steering wheel or some sort of foot switch which hides away. There was a big investigation a couple of years back where IIRC some ex paralympians? were buying automatic supercars VAT free and selling them through well known premier car dealers at a profit, I don't think there is/was a cap on how many cars you can buy.

Orbtar is perfectly correct. my car has to have permanent adapotations. In my case, hand controls and a twin flip accelerator. The motability scheme had capped the value of the vehicles hired to £25k. This was due to some whinging t Censored s complaining that the disabled get a "free" car paid for by the taxpayer. This is most definitely not the case but there are always going to be haters I suppose. It's the old story really. If you want my discount/parking space/etc then you can have my disability Smile LOL

I think you may be a little wide of the mark Dave, There are people out there on the higher rate of DLA who can walk etc. I know of people who might be suffering from diabetes etc. it is not just for wheel chair users. A friend of mine has a left foot accelerator only on his car and he qualifies for higher rate DLA and therefore VAT relief on his car. There have been abuses of the system in the past, it is true but the rules and the application of them is not quite as cut and dried as it seems.

But we digress, IMHO a 20% discount is a pretty good deal and if the OP is happy with that, as it appears he is, then I for one would go for it. that discount without the "benefit" of a qualifying disability has got to be attractive.

Best,

Steve
