Throttle response

Hi All,

Just a quick one. The throttle response on my 56 HSE seems to dampen after I've driven for a while. It's great when I first get going but then after an hour or so it seems to reduce until there's a good couple of seconds between me pressing the pedal and anything happening, then when it does it's almost like all the energy is released and it shoots forward. If I park up for a while it seems to go back to normal.

Anyone got any experience of this and what it could be or is it just 'something they all do'?

I think they all have a bit of turbo lag, why its more prevalent when hot is a mystery. There is an update for earlier vehicles to alleviate the lag, but yours is brand new so should already have it.

Maybe a TC or JE upgrade will help.

Thanks for that. I forgot to add that I've had it TC'd which massively improved the response when cool but doesn't seem to make any difference once the car is warm.

If it's just something that they all do then I can live with that although it would be good to find out why and then maybe I can work out a way round it.

Does not sound right at all. Perhaps the build up of heat is having an effect on something - perhaps a leaky turbo pipe, an electronic component or the air-mass sensor.

Does the problem go away after a quick on-off with the ignition or does the car need to cool down?

Thanks for the replies.

The problem goes away once the car has cooled down which shows that it must be heat related BUT....having looked into it further, and listened to anecdotal evidence, I guess that it's just one of those thing.

The most annoying part about it is that sometimes it makes me feel like I'm not fully in control of the car.

It's going back in at some point for a minor dash rattle so I'll ask the garage to have a look at this at the same time.

Hope you get the car fixed soon, just so that you can enjoy the performance! (mine is TC'd too;-))
