Tired paint

Hi, My D3 has incredibly tired paint. Silver. The bonnet is the worst, looks like it has been washed with a course sandpaper sponge. Other than that, I flipping love the ewd girl. Any recommendations that a crap DIYer can do other than respray? Ta

clay mitt.

i'm more of a "wash it every 12 months if it really needs it" guy but got one of these to try and get rid of bird poo marks (didn't completely do that Sad ) and have to say it really brings out the best of the paintwork ... which sadly highlighted the poo mark.

What year D3?

My silver 07 model had to be completely resprayed, 1 year after purchasing new.

Their was a giant mis painted strip along the middle of the car from the bonnet to the end of the roof.
It wasn't obvious at first as they use silver coloured primer, after a while in certain light the paint was all patchy.

It had to go into the panel shop for a complete respray.

The LRA rep admitted that my car was not the only car that had to be resprayed and it's a factory problem when the robot sprayers don't spray upto the middle centreline of the car.

a clay mitt will just remove surface containments, you would then need to go on a polish it to improve the paintwork, using a lot of elbow grease, or better a machine polish to improve the surface and then seal it with a wax or sealant

speak with a local car detailer to get advise and cost on a single stage machine polish and seal, obviously if the paint is totally Censored then no polishing will fully sort it
