Auxiliary tray - help needed

I am trying to remove the auxiliary tray at the back offside of the Disco3 (automatic) engine bay to gain better access to the upper steering shaft bolt but cant see how to do it. The Haynes manual isn't much help. Can anyone provide me with advice and guidance, preferably with some pics please? Thanks so much. Fran

It's just two nuts at the bottom of the tray isnt it? I think it kinda pulls apart in sections and then the bottoms section has two nuts. Same both sides.

I could look but my cars all the way over there... Whistle

Lift top cover off, there is an L-shaped plastic piece on engine side which will come out if you lean the top over. Then three inset nuts to undo and lift up inner half of the tray. It then comes out with a bit of jiggling, to give easy access to the bolt.

A mirror of this, middle part is the one you are trying to remove.

Thank you both. I will have another look tomorrow and see if I can do it. It sounds fairly straightforward from your description but I literally had a sleepness night trying to do this and gave up in the end!

Don't stress over these things, it's usually something simple and overlooked. Just to add, with an extension, you can get to the upper bolt without removing the box. You can also come up from below with ok access.

I've gotta ask though, you've turned the wheel to line up the bolt, right?

I fitted the new lower u/j shaft ok with the lower bolt by taking the sump guard off but couldn't quite exactly line up the upper hole to put the new bolt through the intermediate shaft so that it would bite and tighten. Ended up dropping the new boltt into the engine bay somewhere hence want to try again with better access for my second attempt!. I had the steering lock on as per the Haynes manual.
