Hi
I have been waching the forum for some time now and have not contributed as i did not feel qualified to do so in comparison to other forumers, and all the questions i have had could largely be answered using the search facility.
However, i have been mulling over the idea of having the ECU Remap done by one of the site sponsors. That was until i just called my insurance company who advised that the premium will go up by £140 per annum, and my x/s will go up by £200.
My question is, is this normal? I have only just renewed the policy with direct line who until now have been excellent both in terms of service and price (my previous Volvo was magnetic i think judging by the number of cars that managed to hit it!)
Any thoughts/experiences would be welcome.
Simon

Those of you who do tell your insurers, for goodness sake insist they issue a new insurance schedule that mentions "engine modifications" or similar. The word of your average insurance call handler is a) close to worthless and b) remarkably difficult to track down on call recording systems. If you don't get this within 7 days, ring and ask again. If you get a different answer, insist they track down your call, ideally giving a date and approximate time as the longer it's left, the less chance they have of locating and retrieving a recording of the call.
One of the biggest problems I have with my clients is the lack of care and attention a small minority of staff demonstrate. They tell the customer what they want to hear and make no record of the call, safe in the knowledge that they are unlikely to get caught out because they have made sure there is little or no audit trail that identifies them as having talked to the customer. These same people tend to get through more calls per hour, get payrises and promotions and generally make my life a misery, although a well paid misery.... I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
