Roof Rack - Advice requested
I have had a series of L/Rs and they have had a series of Brownchurch roof racks. These racks are astounding and take a real hammering. My new D3 has a GPS aerial on the roof and the Brownchurch rack (91 series) won't fit.
Does anyone know of a suitable roof rack that will fit around the GPS aerial and will it interfere with the signal reception?
Putting a large, heavy metal structure in the vicinity of an aerial just doesn't sound right to me.
I am waiting for a response from a couple of retailers but these guys would try to sell sand to arabs so they are not going to be very objective!
Will an expedition rack work like the G4 style rack?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm a bit stuck.
Thanks

I have an expo rack fitted to my D3 which also has a chequerplate floor fitted. The 3mm c/plate almost totally covers the aerial/fin and it has no effect at all on the phone or Sat Nav.
I'm pretty sure the G4 rack is an expo rack but has holes cut in the front shield and supports for lighting.
I can personally vouch for it's strength.

I'm happy with that Fisherman, thanks but you keep your rod to yourself!!
How does that ladder work with the tailgate? Don't they interfere?

The Ladder sort of hooks over the top of the upper tailgate and behind the handle/number plate light. It's sort of made to fit, which it is of course.
It makes no difference to the opening but may be a bit taller when open.
Feels very tough and took 20 mins when Ken and Slimer kindly fitted it whilst at the Southern meet.

The satnav aerial is built into the upper brake light led assembly, so is well clear of the roof rack.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

I think you might be disappointed with the LR Expedition rack. it holds stuff and is fairly quiet on the road, but is made of thin aluminum. A more stout rack can be found from FrontRunner or Hannibal.
Here is my Hannibal:

I looked at Hanibal and Frontrunner racks but they were nearer to a grand plus. I bought my rack and ladder for £250 and cleaned them up with my Father in Law, came up like new.
I had previously bought a Thule rack which I didn't like much and chipped the D3 too. My Mrs thought the grand I'd just spent was plenty to be going on with thankyou very much!

I rang Brownchurch early last year to ask about the N91 rack for the D3 ...I have a PTI fin and wanted to make sure that it would fit . The response from Brownchurch was pretty poor. They said that they were unaware of the fin and asked me to give precise measurements of the unit and take photos ...I told them that the fin was a common feature on many D3's and indicated that it was perhaps in their best interests find out the fitting parameters for themselves You would think that they would be keen to resolve \ adapt their unit to suit...but alas.. that was the last I heard. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
