Pros and cons of under sealing? |
|
Hi,
I plan to keep my two and a half year old car for some years (> 10?). My LR main dealer has offered to have the car treated with Body Schutz, which I understand is under sealing, at a cost of £180 + VAT. I asked about having the car Waxoyled, but was told that the company they use only applies Body Schutz. I prefer to have the work done through my LR dealer who has confirmed that the LR warranty would not be affected by the process. The car's underside would first be steam cleaned by one company, the dealer's mechanics would then check for corrosion, and then another company would apply the Body Schutz.
So, do you think that I am doing the right thing? Any drawbacks with using Body Schutz?
I have noticed that brown stuff has oozed out of various (drainage?) holes, particularly noticed at the bottom of the doors. Doesn't look unlike oil (Waxoyl?). Is this part of the standard LR body protection, or could it be that the previous (first) owner had body sections Waxoyled?
As usual, any advice very welcome.

Coincidence or what, that there is a post almost at the same time as mine from Bodsy about Waxoyling.
Would still be grateful to haer what people think about my proposed use of Body Schutz.
