I'm going to open myself to all sort of abuse with this....
Out n about last night and I came up to a long, sweeping, uphill corner and, still unbeknown to me, as the car started to ever-so-slightly understeer towards the verge and trees (and I promise you I wasn't exceeding the limit), I thought I was back in my BMW and accelerated to try to recover the situation.
Of course what happened is the car continued its course towards the verge and trees and, for a distance of probably 10-20 yards, suddenly went from being my much loved D4 to what can be best described as a McConnel hedge cutter.
The result is a lot of bramble/tree rash down the side of the car. And while I've resigned myself to the fact the plastic of the wing mirror and arches has probably seen better days, I'm hoping the rest can be buffed out with t-cut, clay, etc. It does actually look worse int he pictures because some of the scratching is highlighted with muck and dirt and does clean out.
Any tips?

Was looking at the Farecia products in Halfords but wonder, as you say, if elbow grease is going to be enough. A lot of very good reviews for the products on the Halfords site:

A good valeter will be able to improve that no end, I bought a used D3 and the paint was in a terrible state from years of neglect, a valeter with an electric polisher and some good products took it from this...........

LOL yes realised my initial error and edited the pics!!
I would pay a valeter yes, you 'might' be able to do it yourself but they carry a full range of products and are experienced in doing it, I doubt you could do as well yourself, I know I certainly couldn't. It didn't cost me much, can't remember the exact price but around £60 I think for the whole care doing!2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Wow! That does sound cheap. Without seeing the car in the flesh and surveying the damage, I have been quoted £250-£300 for a mechanical machine polish Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Hi,
Mine looked like that prior to a detailer and now it is spotless
I am happy to recommend my detailer but he is probably around 2 hours from you and would need the car for a few days?

I had quite bad bramble rash last time we were out at the lakes. I didn't bother with the DA polisher.
I just hand polished it out with some Autoglym super resin polish

G3 and a mop gets most out, then finish with autoglym super resin by hand, you will be amazed what you can get out.
