Forgot to post that on the third ocassion, Stratstone's fixed it and (touch wood) the squeeling has now gone.
I've even got used to using an electric brake - which felt very odd when I first had the car.

My Feb 08 Disco 3 Auto TDV6 GS has been in a well known LR dealer in Stockton-on-Tees since October when the handbrake warning light came on prompting the suspension to stop working.
Same fault had apparently been fixed by the dealer in August of this year when the warning light first appeared.
Land Rover Assist came out but said they couldnt fix it, best they could do was disable the handbrake and tell me to take it it to the aforementioned dealer.
Dealer returned the car a few days later saying problem was fixed. Failed later that day.
Car returned to dealer who attmpted to bring it back some days later. Failed about a mile from my house. Dealer did u-turn and took it back to Stockton-on-Tees where it remains.
Dealer phoned to say vehicle now needs a new actuator (?) and I am to pay some £600s for the privelige. LR are refusing to carry out repair under warranty as vehicle's first service was not carried out by Main Dealer and as such they have no evidence that EPB was checked and adjusted.
I have obtained and forwarded a letter from the company that carried out the service confirming taht handbrake was checked and found to be within tolerance at the service. Land Rover claim this is not worth anything and require further evidence. As I unfortunately do not have video footage (how remiss of me !!) of the technician performing this part of the service I am at a loss as to what to do next.
Oh yeh, dealer is threatening to report the loan car stolen if I dont return it immediately and take away my young family in my potentially dangerous, broken, less than 2yr old vehicle.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Who did the first service? Was a LR approved outfit like Les Potts 4x4 in Sunderland for example?

I think they're on sticky ground there, as they can't withhold warranty based on a non LR dealer doing the servicing (EU ruling on non-binding service or somethign like that). It's time to give your house or Car insurance company a call as you're likely to have legal cover & see what advice they give.

Has anyone done an 'idiots' guide to over come the common faults that the dealer charges a fortune for ?, or is it more in depth than I think to ;
(a) adjust/reset the config
(b) replace common failed parts

Service was carried out by Morrison Motors up near Aberdeen.
Service Manager has been good as gold. He sent me the confirmation letter straight out even though the liklehood of me ever using him is remote as he is so far away.
Does anyone know if checking / adjusting the EPB is a specific item on the service check list ?

Yes. Checking operation and adjusting park brake shoes is part of both A and B services.

Update.
Apparently the dealer is "appealling the decision" to LR on my behalf.

Update.
Dealer are now (under warranty) performing some sort of re-boot of the actuator.
Apparently the software to do this has just become available and my Disco is the guinea pig (unless someone knows any different ?)
If successful, this "fix" is to be rolled out to all dealers who have vehicles coming back with EPB fault.
Funny how when the customer is paying, it needs a new actuator. When LR is paying, a bit of trial and error should do the trick !!
We live in hope.

Same symptoms as mine Paganuk. This is the second time it has happened to me. First time was caused by a broken wire in the loom to the actuator

I'm thinking the same has happened again. I've submitted a VOSA defect report which has got as far as LR Customer Liaison so am waiting for a LR technician to contact me.

Update
Car towed back to dealer on Saturday morning. Warning lights came on again on Friday less than 24hrs after I got it back.
Displaying the same symptons as 5 weeks ago when they first got it. Waiting to hear from LRCC.
Not happy.

Update.
Despite my supplying letter from the garage that carried out the first service specifically confirming that the EPB was checked during the service, having a copy of the service schedule sheet and being told by the dealer's service manager who phoned his opposite number that it was "obvious that the guy knows what he is talking about", I have been verbally informed that further to the latest failure, Land rover are not willing to replace the actuator under warranty as there is "no evidence that the actuator was not damaged during the first service".
Eh ?????
Please can anyone suggest where I can go from here ?
