sorted the roof rack...cleaned the LF lens'...fitted the half-height dog guard...threw away some bits of rubbish that had collected...
Must be time to start packing for the summer holidays... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Picked up a set of shiny stainless side bars from the site sponsor DCC 4x4 and spent the afternoon fitting them. Look very good and very pleased with the quality and service from our sponsor

not today, but overnight Friday drove 1,189 km down to Barcelona area. Just a tad under 11 hours door to door.
And reminded the slow-movong of Frenchman in his Citreon AX that decided to pull out in front of 3 tons of D3 for no apparent reason at around 3:30am on a very dark two-lane French motorway was not a good idea... I don't think he is going to forget what 6 LF170's and bi-xenons at full beam in his rear-view mirror look like for a while
(naughty, I know - but it certainly woke hime up ) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Spent yesterday in the pleasurable company of 14 d3's out on Salisbury plains. 90kms of on and off road routes and as usual, plenty of friendly banter ending up at a nice little pub for dinner and plenty of space for the kids to play in the pub kids area.

Towed the boat Home
After giving up on the camping in Devon I towed the boat home.
Seeing these images has reminded me one of the jobs for this winter is to get the trailer wheels blasted and repainted.
Plus that I need to remove the roof basket and spots from the car before doing too many miles

Found out my 6 ft jo or fighting staff plus other kit goes straight in the boot no need for ski hatches or any thing like without removing pushchairs etc
Bad news is after not training for 3 ish years body hurts all over. They say you never forget like riding a bike. No like falling off a bike down a cliff while someone dislocates various limbs
Same time next week more of the same and I cant wait

went for a drive...so we could go for a walk in Montseny Parc...
Two choices - tarmac or not...(the sign out of the picture said in Catalan - "Degraded Track"...so I didn't go via the tarmac route... )

Got towed home after spending a few days at the Sandringham Caravan site in Norfolk. On Sunday the car refused to go into drive and you kind of need that.
A good time was had by all although today was a bit stressful
Just trying to find out what is what, and what is not what. Sort of a thing.

Drove home with the tintent from a weekend at Dartmouth.
The key is switching off the engine as it should, which is nice, however the engine smell very hot when I got home, only did 200 miles, the temp gauge was ok. Formerly shiny moose

Drove up to LRE in Dunkeld for an afternoon with a D4, great fun and seemed a lot more compliant off road than the RRS that we tested up there a month ago, maybe it was just being more familiar with the size and being able to place the vehicle better that made the difference?
Now I just need to pray for some lottery numbers as all the dealer seems to have are HSEs at £48k..... .....
either that or talk nice to the bank manager

Yesterday actually - traded in the trusty D3 and was really sorry to let her go.
Very nice 57 manual XS now for sale at Frank Ogg Elgin, if anyone's looking.
I hope the new D4 is every bit as enjoyable to own for the next few years
