Air pump removal, how easy and how long?
So, now been told my compressor is slow filling so probably piston rings meaning new pump.... cr@p! I thought hundreds of pounds.... then I found this kit for £25!
But how long to remove pump from Disco?

It all depends mate on the state of the fixings once you remove the cover there are three bolts that you need to remove to get the bracket that holds the compressor on one is a pig, you also need to get the two pipes at the rear off before removing if you do a search on google there is a video on how to do it I would recommend getting a short length of 8mm and 10mm pipe and connectors just incase you need to cut the air pipes, I’ve refurbed mine about six months ago but it’s playing up and I’m going to replace with a new unit, good luckRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

air compressor
1/2 hr but make sure you have new bolts and fixings to reinstall, you may encounter difficulties in removing ipes so get some connectors in case you have to cut

Thanks guys.... was just watching a video on it and I think i need to find someone local who can do it as I’ll end up making things worse
But even with their labour at about 1.5hrs for whole job will still be a lot cheaper, what with a new unit costing 490 on its own!Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE

Very rare these kits are successful, afraid it’s new compressor time,
Taking a compressor of first time can be stressful to say the least, 1/2 hour when you’ve done it a few times, if you go ahead with the kit do it yourself as sure as eggs are eggs it will need to come off again some time soon.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

hi
i also tried to rebuild mine , gave up and fitted a new one
as the others have said it’s getting them apart without anything breaking
u can pick a new dunlop up for around £320 , but many go for the AMK
when i done mine at the same time i dropped the air tank, found it all rusty on top and leaking when i tried it in some water
bit the bullit , so new air tank , a new reservoir valve and compressor bracket with all new bushes at the same time
sprayed the chassis and air tank with dinitrol while the tank was out , then fitted the new relay and updated the software
blimey what a difference , can’t even hear it from inside
got a minuscule leak over a 48 hour period on the front struts , new front valve already fitted , think i will end up having to replace the front struts , but then at least it will all be sorted out

good that’s been replaced , that could have been the cause of ur compressor over working
assume they’ve first checked the inlet air filter and dryer material is all ok

I would go ahead and take it off if only for practice and to examine it and check there are no leaks, clean the filter out and check the rubber one way valve situated under a 17mm stud, this is a common failure and LR do a cheap kit to replace it.
Look in my gallery you will find a photo of the bracket a small mod to it can save you a lot of time and hassle. It can when others can't,

Got to pick it up Monday but it’s had the following just done:
Replaced drive shaft centre bearing
Replace fan belt & fan belt tensioner
Remove buttery from when EGR blanked
Replace brake pipes
Replace air reservoir
For occasional pop up faults when starting I think that’s on me as I tend to turn the key to start without letting it do any system check so the drop in voltage could theoretically cause a false fault read which is why it self clears straight away.
So only the slow to fill pump left to sort.... I had just come round to the idea of getting the IIDTool but with this new expense not sure now..... the joys.
Total cost for work above without pump came to £490 plus £84 for the original plug in and health check.Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE

Gong to see if anyone local has removed one before and get the full kit done with updated cap and new filter. Better I pay someone else as I would certainly make things worse.Land Rover Discovery 3 HSE

My suspension pump gave up and was given good advice on here.Mine had already been converted to AMK so I purchased new unit from 4x4 well know dealer in Yorkshire cost about £330. I removed the plastic compressor cover to make sure all retaining bolts would come undone first and when they did I then replaced new AMK unit. From start to finish would be around 30minutes. Hop this helps
