Doesn't they do a PHEV FF that has a range on electric drive only of 1 mile? They'll have to improve in that. Laughing

And yes, this thread is already taking an irreverential tone!! Whistle Laughing

I had the use of a hybrid FFRR a couple of years ago. It was awful, especially in stop/start traffic. It was impossible to move the thing slowly as it was so jerky. And of course it spent most of its time (when moving) with the engine running. Neutral

Wheeler Dealers did a Maserati Bi Turbo with twin electric motor conversion, it looked good and performance was astounding. A lot of classic cars are being brought up to date with electric motors so that they can appeal to the tree huggers.

Well they said....The new model, aptly dubbed Project Marmite in the early months of its 18-month gestation.
So I guess they know it's going to be love hate.

I would seriously look at an electric vehicle in the near future. Now if someone did an electric retro fit for a D3 at a sensible price I'd be interested.

We can send people to the moon.

We can harness the power of the atom - for good or ill.

We have conquered countless diseases.

Surely we can come up with something which removes the pollutants in diesel and petrol without consigning millions of perfectly serviceable vehicles to the scapheap?

LandRover do need to catchup quick with this, Jag division have been developing for a while so they need to feed off that pronto. Didn't we see a Range Rover mule a few months back with a Electric charge port on the roads?

Volvo, BMW and Audi all have large electric SUVs either on the market or soon to be launched. A PHEV with say 30-40 mile pure electric range will sell very well allowing customers to go electric when they hit the congestion zone.

Realistically mainstream BEV's of this size are a while off, Tesla have done it with the X but its a Ground up Electric car.
